... NWS damage survey for 04/24/15 tornado and high winds event...

.Overview... One tornado has been confirmed by a storm survey team from
the National Weather Service office. Several other areas of
damaging winds were noted across much of the dfw metroplex.
Maximum winds were in the 80 to 85 mph range... while the confirmed
tornado produced EF-0 damage. The bulk of the damage from the
storms last evening were from straight line winds. 80 mph winds
were noted in an area between Godley and Joshua. The majority of
the damage was located in a small area approximately four miles to
the northwest of the city of Joshua. In this area... the survey
team was not able to completely rule out the possibility of a
brief tornado... there was no overwhelming evidence in the damage
pattern... radar data... or eyewitnesses. There was also extensive
wind damage across the southern portions of Tarrant County... where
several trees were damaged or uprooted. The majority of this
damage was noted in or near Benbrook... as well as the south side
of the city of Fort Worth. Other damage areas were noted in the
northeast part of the city of Fort Worth and Arlington. Maximum
wind speeds were in the 80 to 85 mph range.

In summary from the storms last night... several areas of straight
line winds and one confirmed tornado in Ellis County.

Survey_summary: the EF-0 tornado was a small part of a much larger swath
of damaging winds to the south of the city of Midlothian.
