* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 38.3 feet by Monday morning.

* at 7:45 PM Saturday the stage was 22.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 30.4 feet by
tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Thursday early afternoon.
* Impact... at 31.0 feet... major flooding occurs at the gage site.
Flood waters backs up along the White Creek which affects Logan
Road north of downtown Nevada.

* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 46.2 feet by
tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Wednesday evening.
* Impact... at 45.0 feet... moderate flooding begins at the gage site.

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1115 PM CDT for Bourbon...
Hickory... northern Barton... Cedar... Benton... northwestern Polk...
Vernon... St. Clair... northwestern Camden... Morgan and northern Dade
counties...

At 625 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms with
very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Up to three inches of
rain has already fallen. Trained spotters reported roadways covered
by floodwaters in Morgan County. Additional rainfall this evening my
aggravate ongoing flooding across the warned area.

Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and
Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller,
Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon,
St. Clair, stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* Through Sunday evening

* periods of showers and thunderstorms producing torrential
rainfall will occur today through Sunday. An additional 2 to 4
inches of rainfall will be possible through Sunday on top of the
heavy flooding rainfall that has already occurred over the past
24 hours.


* With soils already saturated as well as streams and rivers
running high, significant flooding will continue. Flooding of
streams, rivers, and low water crossings could last for
several days after the rain ends. Areas that don't normally
flood could flood in this event. Many rivers are expected to
go into moderate to major flood... with some breaking records.

Some main Stem rivers that will experience significant rises and
potential flooding include the Elk, Spring, James, Big Piney,
Gasconade, Jacks Fork, current, eleven point, Osage, and
Marmaton. Some river points may reach moderate or major flood
stage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
